Paris Fun Fair 2014 promises even more of the great fun and thrills that it supplies in abundance every year. The Foire du Trône is a huge event providing hours of fun for all the family and runs until June 9th. You will never have experienced a funfair quite as amazing as this one, and it all takes place just a couple of miles from the Grand Hotel du Bel Air, amidst the lovely surroundings of the Bois de Vincennes.
Paris Fun Fair 2014, an ideal opportunity for lots of fun
With over 350 attractions filling a huge area of the Pelouse du Reuilly in the Bois de Vincennes, and over three million visitors expected over the six weeks, the Foire du Trône is definitely the biggest funfair in Europe. However, it’s also the oldest, having a history stretching back all the way to the year 957. That was when the Carolingian King Lothaire granted permission for the monks of the Saint Antoine abbey to sell gingerbread pigs during Holy Week. Thus began the Saint Antoine Fair which is the precursor of the current Foire du Trône. The fair moved to its present location in 1964, so this year marks the fiftieth anniversary there.
Expect attractions, rides, sideshows, stands and candy floss galore when you attend the Foire du Trône. In fact, it takes a thousand trailers just to transport it all! Relish the view of Paris from the Ferris wheel, experience the rush of the roller coasters, have some bumping fun on the dodgems and enjoy a wild time on the Top Spin, Crazy Mouse, Jet Star, Moonraker and many more rides. New this year is Thriller, a ghost train beset by zombies in an homage to the classic Michael Jackson video.
