Publish on Thursday, 27 November 2014 dans Entertainment

Enjoy traditional circus entertainment at the Cirque d'Hiver Bouglione. Clowns, trapeze artists, acrobats, horses, plenty of elephants and more feature in a show that will tickle your funny bone and take your breath away. From October 11th until March 1st you can discover the latest creation of the world famous Bouglione circus family. Géant is, as the name suggests, a giant of a show, offering a colossal amount of entertainment for all the family.

Experience one of the world’s greatest circus spectaculars

The Cirque d'Hiver (Winter Circus) was originally built for the circus entrepreneur Louis Dejean to provide a winter home for his company, hence the name. Opened by Napoleon III in December 1852, it is a 20 sided polygon shaped building that gives the impression of an indoor colosseum. It is a theatre in the round with a roof that is self-supporting, with no central support column to obstruct the view, and so is perfectly designed for its purpose as a circus venue. Today it is the world’s oldest existing circus building. Although it stages concerts and other events, the Cirque d'Hiver is primarily a circus venue, and a truly magical one, at that.

Since 1934 the venue has been called the Cirque d'Hiver Bouglione as it is owned by the Bouglione family of Sinti Gypsy circus performers. The latest Bouglione production is a superb one, with all the elements you would expect. The clowns include the great American performer, Rob Torres, and the white clown, Alberto Caroli, scion of a prestigious Italian circus family. The Flying Mendozas will astound you with their performance on the flying trapeze. Aerialists Ambra and Yves will make you gasp with their skill and daring. The Casselly family’s trained elephants will steal your heart. Then there’s Chinese pole performers, Ukrainian acrobats, trained dogs, superb dancers and a ten piece orchestra. It’s pure showmanship and entertainment!

Paris is so festive at this time of year-end with its many shows, such as Géant that delight the whole family. And walking along its illuminated streets is a unique experience.

The wonder of the Champs Elysées Christmas Market

With its rows of trees festooned with twinkling lights, shop window displays like enchanted grottos and fun packed activities for all the family, the Champs Elysées becomes even lovelier during the festive season. The excitement is topped off with the avenue’s very own Christmas Market. Around 160 wooden chalets, made in Vosges to a traditional design, line the Champs Elysées, offering a wide range of goods that help to make this part of Paris into a Christmas shopper’s paradise. Stroll along the avenue and find that special Yuletide gift or something unusual for yourself. Open from 10:00 am until late.
